Abstract
ABSTRACT Indonesian as the State language used as formal communication media both oral and written. The official letter is a formal communication media in all government or private agencies who used formal language in written.The used of written language in formal letters made by the Education department have to follow the rules of formatting such as in sentences, clauses, phrases, diction, or grammatical featuresor the use of systemofficial spelling (EYD). This study aims to describe the used of system official spelling (EYD) on official letters made by Education Department Pringsewu. This study is qualitative descriptive. The result of this study provided a description of parts of the EYD that was not correct or many errors. Keywords: Indonesian, official, letter, written
