THE ROLE OF HIGHER EDUCATION INSOCIAL AND ECONOMIC DEVELOPMENT IN TOURISM COMMUNITY-BASED: THE EVIDENCE OF LAMPUNG PROVINCE
Abstract
This study aims to analyze the role of Higher Education in economic and social development in the tourist area of Lampung Province, using qualitative methods so that this type of research is explorative research sourced from documents or reports spread in various government institutions of Lampung (secondary data). So in this study unknown population terms and sampling as well as micro-studies that relies on field-level primary data.
This research also combined the Kuznet and Solow economic and development model, where we built the model of economic and social development equation of Lampung tourism are. The result of this research is found some fact that tourism area until now its utilization is only limited its basic function that is as agricultural land, plantation, and fishery. While Higher Education in Lampung does not have a big role to the overall economic and social development, where the number of universities has not impacted the creation of employment, as well as the tendency of graduates of Universities in Lampung not interested in applying the knowledge they have to build the countryside, with the spread of Universities that is not evenly in fact mostly located in the city of Bandar Lampung). In addition to the estimation results, social trends in economic and social disparities have emerged despite an increase in human development, despite increased infrastructure, increased use of technology and investment every year.
